The literal definition of law: the system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members it may enforce by the impositions of penalties. The laws established for Pumpernickel took some thought but after a few weeks of formulating, they were finally decided on. A majority of the laws that were established are from the U.S. and others are from all over the world. What influenced the laws the most is what is envisioned when picturing what a country would be like if I had the opportunity to run it. A lot of the laws that were put into place are a bit much for the sheer fact that it is a made up country. I want Pumpernickel to be a thriving country with intellectual hard working people. The internet influenced a lot. If I am going to brutally honest the internet was my best friend with this unit. Law is what makes this country the way it is today. Without law this country would not have the stability it does today. Although our government has had some issues lately, without law it would be absolute chaos. The country I run in this class is a lot more strict than the U.S. because I think that with more order I could run a country with less issues regarding the government and the people’s happiness. A majority of the laws set in place are for the purpose that I only want people who want to be in my country to live there, I do not see a point in welcoming people into a country they do not want to live in. I want a civilized country with hard working, mentally functioning people. But at the same time I don’t want to deal with too many people, Hence why I have a annual purge every year on my birthday. The reason I chose my birthday is because that date is nearly impossible to forget. Education is also something that I find important, and that is made very clear in my laws. The second you can talk, your going to school. This law is established because in my opinion, starting school when children are five or six creates attachment issues towards their parents/ guardians. The use of tobacco products is not allowed because although marijuana is legal as well as alcohol, tobacco is a bigger detriment to your health. Also, people who smoke and dip put way to much money towards those things vs. things they really need. The compost pile and the healthy garden is so citizens will not have to worry about a shortage of produce at any point. Also, it gets people outside which is something the U.S. has issues with. Being obese is illegal because that means all you do is sit on your butt, and that is not gonna fly in Pumpernickel. Some of my laws will seem bogus but remember that it is a pretend country. A few of the laws are absolutely crazy in my opinion but again, the country is not real. Without law there would be no order and without order it would be complete chaos. The whole point of law is to enforce rule in a country. Without rules people would do whatever they want, whenever they want and this world would be absolutely insane. Laws are essential for a functioning country. Although there will always be bumps in the road, there are always ways to fix that. With the laws set in place the crime rate in my country should be pretty low compared to others. This unit made me realize that the making of this country was a long, hard process and it takes more than one person to do so. I have a lot of respect for the people who were strong and brave enough to part from Britain and create a country out of nothing but an idea of freedom. The making of the laws we have today have evolved overtime to accommodate the issues we have today and have had throughout history.
